Happy Birthday Suzanne Aubert

Ra Whanau Suzanne Aubert

In room 6 we have been celebrating Suzanne Aubert’s birthday by making flowers for the theme, “Always choose the little flower of hope.”

Suzanne looked after sick people, people with disabilities, children whose families couldn’t care for them, and the elderly. The work she started continues to this day in places like Wellington’s Compassion Soup Kitchen.

Suzanne left her home in France and came to Aotearoa to support the Maori people. She honoured the Maori people, their tikanga, reo and rongoa. Suzanne loved God and always thought about what he wanted her to do, not what she wanted, even when that wasn’t easy.

Sea Turtle Life Cycle

I am learning to write to inform my audience with an explanation.

Did World records say that the oldest sea turtle is over 400 years old or that the sea turtles were still alive when the dinosaurs were alive, wanna find out know, then read about my explanation of the sea turtle life cycle, starting with the egg stage.

The start of the egg stage is when a female sea turtle comes up to the beach and waddles around it will find a spot on the beach to dig a hole to lay the eggs in. Scientists usually study the sea turtle while its digging, it keeps digging until the hole is very deep then lays roughly 110 eggs then covers them and goes away to the water, when turtles are in the eggs they stay until there ready to hatch, they break the egg with a special tooth.Approximately 20% will never hatch. The rest crawl out of the hole where the eggs were laid and race to the water. The sea turtles scram to the water to get safe but there are seagulls diving down and eating them crabs crawling back and forth demolishing them. There is about 50% of the turtles survive and go to the growing up stage.

The sea turtles swim into deep water there are so many more animals try to eat them and the turtles, paranoid, try to get to a hiding spot without being seen by fish, sharks, whales or other water animals. About 50% do not make it to the hiding spots like floating seaweed and other floating things when the sea turtles are hiding they float on the water and stay there for roughly 7 months eating plankton and sea grass they need to survive. Through the current and bad weather only around 20% make it to adult stage and 1% with human interference.

The adult sea turtle is around the size of 1-1.2 metres long their shell is tougher that means they have more protection .They swim around trying not to get killed by sharks or whales they can’t really get eaten by fish or their old enemies anymore they are able to hold their breath up to 4-7 hours! Some sea turtles are carnivores and some are herbivores and some are omnivores the sea turtle grows and just keeps swimming around eating for the rest of their life!

Sometimes the female sea turtles swim up to the beach ands starts the whole thing again so that's how the sea turtle life cycle works i think everybody should like sea turtles and care for them so that they can have happy lives!

You will find them on windows, you can find them on the wall, they will make a big mess,
For something so small. One day I will grow,And leave them no more,My hand prints will be missed, Of that,I am sure.So here is one now that you can't wipe away.My present to you,This Mothers' Day.

The Ascension Of The Lord

In RE we learnt about the ascension of Jesus. At Galilee Jesus told his disciples to take his gospel to the whole world. He promised to send the Holy Spirit to be with us always and then he returned,In glory to his father in heaven.

We used crafts to show how Jesus went body and soul to heaven.
